The First Step Center was established in 1989 at Memorial Medical Center.  It has been an independent non-profit organization since 2003.  The mission of the First Step Center is to provide outstanding healthcare to all women and children in need of our services, no matter their cultural, financial, social, or medical condition.

The clinic is housed in a new facility built with funds raised in the community by the Healthcare Foundation of Southern New Mexico, and is therefore truly a community resource.

Each year, First Step physicians and midwives deliver more than half of all babies born in Doña Ana County.  Women's Health and Pediatric providers see more than 40,000 clinic and hospital visits annually.

We accept most commercial insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, TriCare, and self-pay patients.
